Where to begin? A stream of consciousness perhaps? There are precious few of us here in Costa Rica, Brits that is - and yet we make our mark. We seem to raise more money through our charitable events than the Americans and the Canadians who are here in far greater numbers. They probably won,t like me saying that. But it,s true.

(I think I must begin by apologizing for the fact I don,t have working quotation marks or an apostrophe on my computer. I am sure you will have noticed. So I have to make do with a comma. Sorry about that).

The Brits have also established the longest-running English Language theatre in all of Latin and Central America - 60 years old this year...and many of us current Brits are still very much involved with it. And despite there being more Americans on our board we have insisted on keeping the British spelling of theatre - despite huge pressure to spell it the American way.

In my next blog I will start to describe individual Brits in Costa Rica and their contributions to this wonderful country.
